This article explains how to configure a Team Tour in the Event Maker. Do note that the term 'Team Tour' refers to a specific format used in the FIBA 3x3 community with certain rules and regulations. See the Team Tour documentation at FIBA3x3.com

Important: Do note that it is not possible to convert existing stand alone events into tour stops but all tour stops of the tour must be configure via the Team Tour view.

Setting up the tour parameters

This is how the overview page of Team Tour page looks like. Through the tabs and various links you can access all the key parameters you need to configure.

The first task is to set the tour stops (i.e. the individual events) you are going to play. You may run a team tour with or without a final event.

Configuring the categories

Once you have set the events, you need to select the categories (E.g. Men, Women, Elite, Rec) that you want to be played across multiple tour stops. You don't need to select every category to be played at every tour stop but you can just tick those that you want to be played.

For each tour stop, you need to define the team counts, open registration periods etc for each category, make schedules, enter results and validate them, exactly the same way as you would do for an individual event.

Managing team rosters

Per the FIBA 3x3 Team Tour rules, team are allowed to have a total roster of 6 players in the Team Tour, out of which 4 can play at one tour stop. You can manage the rosters via the Team tab.

Creating a tour standing widget

The Event Maker calculates the tour standing automatically based on the validated results of individual tour stops. You can see the standings via the Tourstandings tab.

You can also create a widget (to be placed on your web site, for example) that displays the same.

Managing finals qualification and progression

If you have a finals event, you need to manually mark the qualified teams by going into the Team / Participations menu and tapping any player from any team to participate. Through that action the status of the whole team changes to Qualified.

Now, the Event Maker can assist you by having the tour standings to show you (and your community) the qualification status in real time.

For displaying the tour standings:

  • the number of teams shown to qualify ('Q') or potentially qualifying (´*') is dependent on how many teams you have configured to participate in the tour stop marked as the final
  • you can 'wild card' any team to qualify by going into the Team / Participations menu and tapping any player from any team to participate. Through that action the status of the whole team changes to qualified ('Q*)
  • you can use the menu below to configure how many best finishers from each tour stop you want to get automatically the qualified marker ('Q')
  • the 'potentially qualified' marker ('*') is shown based on the FIBA 3x3 Team Tour rules, and, hence, after the defined winners, the next potentially qualifying teams are shown based on accumulated tour points.
